With its unusual flowers, attractive shape and ease of cultivation, the yellow wild iris is a very versatile garden plant that can tolerate various conditions. It can be mass-planted as a groundcover, or may be used singly as an accent plant. They form approximately 1m x 1m clumps of erect sword-shaped leaves. The flowers only last for one day, but because so many buds are produced the plant is almost always in flower from October until January (spring and summer).
